Karl Dryer

Karl Dryer was Avon Lake High School’s first and only 6-man football coach in a career that spanned the years 1939 to 1955. His teams won 7 titles and had an overall record of 79-25-3. The high school industrial arts instructor’s team was awarded the unofficial state championship in 1949-50 after they went 19-0-2 over three years. In addition he coached the track team and added several county titles to his record while sending a number of boys to state. Karl retired in 1969 after after 30 years of service to the Avon Lake Schools and the community.
