Jim Stroh

Jim Stroh, a long-time resident and Avon Lake High School graduate, participated in baseball and basketball in high school, achieving many individual awards in all areas. He gave up a basketball scholarship to Miami University to sign a bonus contract with the Cleveland Indians, where he continued his professional career in their system until the early fifties. Upon completion of that career he became volunteer coach of the recreation and high school baseball programs in Avon Lake and the town’s first slow pitch softball commissioner, where he started our well-respected Avon Lake Tournament.
