Angela Clark Penrod

Angela Clark was selected as Avon Lake’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete in 1983. She started in Track, volleyball and basketball earning nine varsity letters. In volleyball Angela was voted the MVP of the SWC and a member of the Lorain County All-Star Squad.

In basketball she was recognized as the Associated Press Firt Team AAA All-Ohio, McDonald’s All-Ohio, SWC-MVP and SWC First Team All-Conference. Angela set ALHS records in career points (988); season single points (395); single season rebounds (305); career rebounds (797); and individual game scoring (30 points). She also lead the McDonald’s Ohio Team in Scoring and rebounding.

In track she lettered three years competing in the discus, shot, and high jump.

Clark was the first female at Avon Lake to be MVP of the SWC in two sports.

Upon graduation from Avon Lake, Angela accepted a basketball scholarship to Liberty University in Virginia. She played four years of college basketball and one of college volleyball.

Angela also coached college basketball at Vanderbilt University.
