Al Buckeye

Al Buckeye has been a winner everywhere he has been! During his 35-year career he has coached basketball, track, cross country, tennis, baseball, football and swimming. He has two state titles to his credit in Ohio and was the assistant coach on one state championship squad in Florida. One of those state titles was as girls cross country coach at Avon Lake, the first in the school’s history. He has won numerous conference and district titles in track, cross country and basketball in six different school systems and has been honored as Coach of the Year in multiple sports at the Conference, District and Regional level. A graduate of Lakewood High School and Ashland College, Al has also been involved in community activities, including recreation commissioner, little league coach, swim team, tennis director and the Avon Lake Municipal Pool’s handicapped program.
