Avon Lake's 1992-93 Girls Basketball Team started out in unspectacular fashion at 1-2. What was to follow could not have been anticipated, as the Shoregals, under new coach Amy Manco, ran off 22 straight victories. The season culminated in a first ever, final four appearance in Columbus, with a semi-final loss to eventual state champion Urbana. Along the way, Avon Lake beat Olmsted Falls in the District championship, and Lima Bath in the Willard Regionals to advance to the state semi-finals.
The Shoregals were led by senior co-captains Amy Kneiss and Devon Garceau, both of whom were named to the 3rd team All-District Team. Megan Chawansky became Avon Lake's first girls basketball player to receive All-Ohio First Team honors, and was named SWC-MVP. Also, key to the Shoregals success, were Stacey Fifer, 2nd Team All-District, and Beth Lora and Michelle Finefrock, both named Honorable Mention All-District.
