1982-83 Girls Basketball Team

The 1982-83 Girls Basketball team will be the first girls team inducted into the Avon Lake Sports Hall of Fame. The team has the distinction of being the only undefeated girls basketball team in school history, finishing the season with a perfect 20-0 record, and a Southwestern Conference championship. In addition to their perfect record the girls set numerous school records including: most points scored in a game (81 vs. Lorain Catholic), fewest points allowed in a game (14 by Avon), most points in a single season (1,398 points in 23 games) and most rebounds in a single season (968 total rebounds). The team was dominant during the regular season averaging 60 points per game while allowing an average of 34 points per game. The team was coached by Russ Lynch and assisted by Norm Frindt and Debbi Dsenich. Members of the team included: Tracey Parker, Michelle Dean, Nancy Serrano, Laurel Rusnak, Chris Martin, Amy Bettridge, Lori Bayley, Ruth Gaertner, Joan Lees, Angie Clark, Karen Goedwaagon, and Yvonne Saul.
