1971-72 ALHS Wrestling Team

The 1971-72 Wrestling Team posted the best record in the school’s history, 7-1-1, and was considered by many as the school’s finest. Coached by Paul Reynolds and assisted by Bob Tomaszewski, the team stormed through independent and league foes, losing only to Westlake. Highlighting the year was a victory (28-25) over Bay, the eventual State Campion of the 1971-72 campaign. Several wrestlers had outstanding years, including four who were undefeated in duals: Chris Heim 9-0; Bob Parsons 9-0; Scott Clifford 9-0; and Al Weaver 8-0. Clifford and Heim were All-Conference, Parsons a Sectional Champ, and Weaver team captain. Other team members included: Rob Sietz, Tim Jubach, Charlie Sinclair, Matt Welch, Lloyd McCardle, Mark Saunders, Mike Downey, Phil Dufault, Ed McKinley, Jim Thomas, Karl Kisselle, Gary Cornelius and Jim Galler.
