Front row: Timer Tomanek, Alex Christ, Bones Tomanek, Willard Klingshirn, Andy Anderson, and Pete Rockas. 1949-50 ALHS Basketball Team The 1949-50 Basketball Team was the first team in modern Avon Lake High School basketball history to advance to the District final, winning the conference, county and sectional titles before “bowing out” of the season with a 19-3 record, second best in the school’s 62-year history. The team was coached by Hall of Famer Gordon Splete.
