William Galler

William Galler, a 1966 graduate of Avon Lake High School, was an All-Conference football player and wrestler, and was Avon Lake's first state qualifier in wrestling. He was awarded a scholarship by Northwestern University and became a 2nd Team All-Big-Ten and an academic All-Big-Ten player in football, 2nd in the Big Ten in Heavyweight wrestling, and was Northwestern University's Athlete of the Year in 1970. After graduation, Bill became one of America's top ranked AAU wrestlers and two-time National Champion. He also represented the U.S.A. in the 1974 World Championships, and was invited to the Olympic Team Trials four times, and was a finalist twice.
