Paul Vasiloff

Paul Vasiloff, a sophomore transfer to ALHS after Lorain Catholic scrapped its swimming program in the late 1970s, made his mark in Shoremen history in the pool.

The only member of the Shoremen swim team when he arrived, Vasiloff lettered all three seasons and was a three-time qualifier in the 100 yard freestyle. Voted the All-Northeast Ohio Swimmer by the coaches association in 1979, he also earned High School All-American honors.

Vasiloff’s accomplishments earned him a spot on the Cleveland State University men’s swim team where he was awarded a four year scholarship. He would win 22 consecutive races in the 200 freestyle over a period of three seasons. He was voted captain his senior year. He also played on the Vikings water polo team.
