Dr. Paul Knight

Dr. Paul Knight, a 1965 graduate of ALHS, was a standout four-year baseball letterman who was honored as team MVP in each of those four seasons. Paul was the first Avon Lake athlete to ever be acknowledged as an MVP from his freshman through his senior years. His high school highlights included 78 wins and only 5 losses for a .940 winning percentage. Paul pitched five no-hitters and averaged 15 strikeouts per game for his career.

The Baltimore Orioles drafted him as a 17-year-old, right out of high school. Knight, however, opted to attend Ohio University over Northwestern and the University of Toledo to pursue and complete his education.
