Lisa Sebastian

Remembered fondly for her feats on the basketball court, Lisa Sebastian (Class of 1989) graduated Avon Lake High School having excelled in three sports. A four-year letter winner in girls varsity basketball, Sebastian played four years of varsity softball and three years of varsity tennis.

Though she played second singles throughout the season, Lisa paired with teammate Erica Hardy for the postseason. The duo advanced to the OHSAA state tennis championships Sebastian's senior year. A two-time Lorain County Tournament doubles champion, the two-time co-MVP earned All-Southwestern Conference and All-Lorain County first team awards as a senior.

A shortstop on the softball team, Sebastian earned all conference, all-county and all-district first team honors her senior year. The team MVP was also a county all-star.

Few records remained unconquered for Sebastian after four years in varsity girls basketball. By the time she graduated in 1989, Lisa had set individual Shoregals records in career points (1,230), assists (354) and steals (388). Currently second in all three categories, she still holds the record for the most steals in a season with 130.

Decorated with several postseason awards Sebastian earned All-Ohio honors her senior season. The three-time team MVP and two-time conference MVP went on to receive a women's basketball scholarship at The Ohio State University. She earned three varsity letters playing with the Buckeyes and played on the 1993 team that ended the year second in the nation after a two-point loss to Texas Tech (84-82) in the national championship.
