Kevin Schmotzer

There were few awards Schmotzer didn't win following his senior basketball season. He earned everyone of them.

Schmotzer set 10 individual school records including career shooting percentage and blocked shots. Named the team's MVP, Schmotzer was named to the All Southwestern Conference team, was an all-district award winner and earned All-Ohio special mention. He also earned special mention for the Mr. Basketball award.

That year Avon Lake earned its first 20-win season in team history. It was Avon Lakes first sectional championship since 1971.

Schmotzer attended Wittenberg University after high school where he went on to earn three varsity letters. Wittenberg compiled a 102-15 overall record and made two NCAA Division III tournament appearances during his time on the team.

Schmotzer has been a varsity assistant coach at Edgewood High School in Madison, WI since 1995. His team won a state championship in 2002.
