Karen Goedwagen was an outstanding athlete at Avon Lake High School and at Stanford University in California.

During her high school years, she earned six varsity letters, three in basketball and three in tennis. In basketball she was a member of the school’s first undefeated team (20-0). Karen shot 52% from the field in her career and was selected to the First Team All-SWC; the Plain Dealer Dream Team; and the North-Eastern Ohio All-Star Team. Upon graduation she received a full basketball scholarship to Stanford.
As a three-year letter winner in tennis she played on one SWC championship team and qualified for the state quarterfinals in doubles play.

After leaving Avon Lake for Stanford, Karen became a starter for the PAC-10 team as a freshman, lettered for three years, and played internationally in her sophomore year.

Last year she entered the coaching ranks as an assistant coach at Hanover High School in Wisconsin.
