Kevin Caine

Kevin Caine was a 1962 graduate of Avon Lake and competed in three sports, lettering in Football, Wrestling and Baseball. He distinguished himself as one of the premier players in the area when he became the county’s leading rusher (1,138 yards, 6.8 yards per carry) and scorer with 15 touchdowns and 10 extra point conversions his senior year. He was named First Team All-County in 1961, area “Outstanding Back” and team Most Valuable Player. Kevin is still on Avon Lake’s “All Time” list in rushing and scoring statistics. Caine also excelled in baseball, lettering varsity for three years and as a wrestler for three years.

Kevin led his team to a Lakeland Conference Championship in football with an 8-1 record under Hall of Fame Coach Jim Gratz. He earned the name “Killer” for his aggressive running style that often put would-be tacklers out of the game. He remains today one of Avon Lake’s most exciting runners.
