Ellen Trivanovich

Ellen Trivanovich, Avon Lake's "Miss Ellen", has dedicated the better part of 50 years to the youth of this community. Known for her dedication to the sport of swimming, she started Avon Lake's first swim program at the city park in the early '50's, and fought for a community pool until it was finally built in 1962. Miss Ellen began a competitive swim program at the pool that has produced many young stars who have gone on to compete at the college level. Ironically, Miss Ellen also pioneered a program of her own as she became the first Avon Lake woman athlete to receive a college scholarship to play basketball at Kent State University. Her many years of service made her a popular inductee in the first class of Hall of Famers.
