Dick Deasy
Dick Deasy, a 1956 graduate of Avon Lake High School, where he lettered in three sports, has been a coach since 1961 in football, basketball, track and baseball at the college and high school level. Deasy has been the Shoremen Athletic Director for the past 12 years and head basketball coach the last 5. He previously was the assistant football and basketball coach at Wisconsin State University and the head basketball and baseball coach and Athletic Director at Milton College. In college his teams won 7 conference championships in two sports in five seasons and set record marks in numerous areas at Milton College. He was honored in baseball (1973) and basketball (1974) as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Midwest Coach of the Year. In 1984 he was inducted into the Milton College Hall of Fame.
At Avon Lake his basketball teams have two championships and own a 70-37 record in five years. He is presently the winningest cage coach in Avon Lake history with a .654 percentage. He has been named coach of the year twice. Recently he was named Northeast Ohio Athletic Director of the Year
