Megan Chawansky

A talented athlete in four sports for Avon Lake, Megan Chawansky excelled everywhere she competed, whether it was the basketball court, the tennis court, the track or in the cross country fields.

Voted Avon Lake's Most Outstanding Senior Female Athlete, Chawansky really made a name for herself as a member of the Shoregals' basketball squad. Playing varsity for all four years, she was named the team MVP all four years and the SWC MVP her

sophomore, junior and senior seasons. A member of the Final Four qualifying team her sophomore and junior years, Chawansky was an All-Ohio first team selection and district MVP her final three years, the Division II Co-Player of the Year her junior year and the Division II Player of the Year her senior season .. Landing on the All-Tournament team in 1994 and voted Lorain County's Miss Basketball her senior year, Chawansky was also selected to play in the North-South All-Star game that year. Chawansky also excelled off the court, earning All-Ohio Academic and Scholar Athlete honors her senior year.

In track, Chawansky was voted the Outstanding First Year Performer her junior year, when she was an All-SWC second team selection and regional qualifier in the 4x400. She was also a regional qualifier in the 4x800 her senior season and a scholar athlete both years she competed on the track.

Playing varsity tennis her sophomore and junior years, Chawansky was the SWC champion in second singles her sophomore year, as well as a Lorain County champion and the team MVP.

Opting to compete in cross country her senior year, Chawansky was a scholar athlete and a member of the third-place state team.

Chawansky played four years of collegiate basketball at Northwestern

University. By the end of her playing career, her name was all over the Wildcats record books, finding herself among the top five in scoring, assists, 3-pointers made and free throws made. She also ranked among the top 10 in rebounds, steals and games played.
