Chris Johnson

Athletics have always been a part of Chris' life. He grew up near Avon Lake High School and could hear the band and teams practicing throughout the week. Game day was really special as Chris would not only attend the games, but also saw his sister shine as a cheerleader. He grew up playing baseball, football and basketball but in junior high developed a passion for tennis. His coach realized his potiential and allowed Chris to practice wth the high school team. This proved to be a wise decision as Chris earned All SWC plus All Lorain County recognition in each of his four varsity years. In 1996, Chris was named SWC MVP and helped Avon Lake win its first boys tennis team title.

Chris continued to hone his tennis skills at Baldwin Wallace College. As a four year varsity player, his team won the Ohio Athletic Conference title in 1997. In 2000, Chris was chosen captain of the men's tennis team. He currently is fourth on BW's All Time Wins list.

Chris currently teaches fourth grade for Lakewood City Schools plus coaches Magnificat's girls tennis team in the fall and Lakewood's boys tennis in the spring. He guided Magnificat to girls state team titles in 2007 and 2009, was twice selected as the Plain Dealer's Coach of the Year and was Ohio State Coach of the Year in 2008
