Colleen (Byrne) Beyer

Colleen is an athlete that always has enjoyed running. Competitiion began in the fifth grade when she won the one-mile race at Eastview Elementary School. During high school, Colleen was named to the All-Ohio Division II girls cross country team and was All-Ohio Division I track twice. Other accolades include SWC Cross Country champion twice, All Lorain County and a member of the 4 x 3200 relay team that was state runner-up in Division I.

In addition to track, Colleen played on the Shoregal's Basketball teams. Although running was her favorite sport, she also enjoyed the competition and camaraderie that a team sport like basketball provides.

Colleen's career continued as she joined Vanderbilt University's Women Track and Cross Country teams. At Vanderbilt, she competed in the always tough SEC, the un-official Olympic training grounds for track in that era.

Today Colleen is married and has a son. She works at the Cleveland Clinic and still is an active runner. She competes in the Cleveland Marathon and other competitions as well.
